1. Graduate program (MA & PhD) for international students of the Department of Taiwanese Literature is divided into two divisions: A. Division for Taiwanese Literature Studies. In this division, the courses offered to the students are mainly in Chinese and Taiwanese. B. Division for Taiwan and Southeast Asian Studies. The courses offered to the students in this division are mainly in English or bilingual. Moreover, students may take all courses which are taught in English and offered by all departments in the College of Liberal Arts. 2. Applicants may be interviewed by phone or webcam. The Department will inform the applicants in advance. 3. Applicants from non-English speaking countries are required to provide English proficiency certificate (such as TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS or GEPT). Division B require higher English abilities than division A. 4. The English proficiency certificate is not required for applicants whose previous degree is from an English-speaking country (Australia、Canada、United Kingdom、Ireland、New Zealand、South Africa or the United States of America) but the applicant has to offer the diploma as proof. 5. Applicants for PhD should provide a thesis of master and other related publications. 6. Applicants for division A must fulfill the following additional requirements: a. Applicants must possess advanced Chinese skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Applicants are required to provide Chinese proficiency certificate (TOCFL or New HSK or relevant Chinese language certificates). b. Applicants are required to provide research plan, autobiography and other helpful documents in Chinese (or Taiwanese) for admission review. 7. Applicants for division B must fulfill the following additional requirements: a. Applicants must possess advanced English skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Applicants are required to provide English proficiency certificate (such as TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS or GEPT). b. Applicants are required to provide research plan, autobiography and other supporting documents in English for admission review. 8. Research plan refers to your potential topics for PhD dissertation/MA thesis.
